Actress Malavika Nair has signed her next Tamil movie, Arasiyalla Idhellam Saadharanamappa, three years after her debut film Cuckoo opened to positive reviews. Malavika will act opposite Veera. The film is directed by Avinash Hariharan, and is currently being shot in Pondicherry.

Speaking to the Times of India, Malavika said that she took such a long break because she was focusing on her studies. “That’s the reason I was not able to listen to scripts after Cuckoo. I did a couple of Telugu films in between. More than all this, I want to do interesting roles and I really do not want to play the cliched bubbly girl roles. That’s the reason I am very choosy about my films.”
In Cuckoo, she had played a visually challenged girl. Here, Malavika says she will be playing a “chilled-out urban girl”. She said, “I have scope to perform, plus, it is an unusual character.”
