According to The Week, Thomas injured himself while shooting for an action sequence. It is reported that he suffered a stomach injury and has been kept under observation at the Intensive Care Unit at a private hospital in Kochi.
The Indian Express reported that there has been internal bleeding but the actor is not in a critical condition.
Rohith VS of Adventures of Omanakuttan fame, had announced his film with Thomas a few months back. The shoot began on September 5 with Thomas sharing a photo of the clapperboard on Twitter. On October 2, he unveiled the motion poster of Kala, featuring an adrenaline-pumped run through a forest. The film is touted to be an adventure-thriller film.

Kala stars Thomas in the lead, along with Divya Pillai, Lal and Sumesh Moor in pivotal roles. The movie is co-written by Yadhu Pushpakaran. Cinematographer Akhil George will be handling the camera and Livingston Mathew will be the editor. Sound will be headed by Dawn Vincent and Jothish Shankar will be in charge of the production design. Costume design for the film will be taken care of by Sameera Saneesh.
Thomas is also working on Minnal Murali, the trailer of which was released in September. Helmed by Basil Joseph, the superhero flick will be released in five languages- Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada. Actors Prithviraj and Fahadh Faasil launched the Malayalam teaser, Vijay Sethupathi and Keerthy Suresh the Tamil one, Yash the Kannada one, Abhishek Bachchan and Arjun Kapoor the Hindi one, and Rana Daggubati the Telugu one.
The movie stars Guru Somasundaram, Aju Varghese, Femina George, Sneha Babu, Shelly Nabu Kumar, P Balachandran, Baiju Santhosh, Surjith, Harisree Ashokan, Mamukkoya, Bijukuttan, and others in important roles.
