Goodwill Entertainment, the production company behind films like Kasaba and Annmariya Kalippilaanu, has announced three films with Mammootty this year. The news was announced on Easter day.
According to an online news portal, the first of the three films to be born out of this collaboration will be directed by Ajai Vasudev. Ajai Vasudev had directed Mammootty in the 2017 film Masterpiece. The film, scripted by Udayakrishna and produced by Royal Cinemas, went on to become a success. The new film, however, will be written by debutants Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed.
Mammootty’s second film in the line-up will be directed by ace directors Pramod and Pappan. After marking their debut with the superstar in 2004’s Vajram, the duo collaborated with Mammootty on their second project, Thaskaraveeran. Dennis Joseph, who scripted the film, will be teaming up with the directors and the actor for their new project too.
The third film is the magnum opus Kunjali Marakkar. Originally announced by August Cinemas with Santhosh Sivan attached to direct, the project was shelved after Priyadarshan and Mohanlal announced and went ahead with their version of the story titled Marikkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham.
The project seems to have been revived by Goodwill Entertainment. The project is yet to have a director. Meanwhile, the shooting for Priyadarshan’s film is happening in full swing. The movie is based on the life of Kunjali Marikkar IV – the fourth and last of the naval chiefs deployed to defend the seas against Portuguese, by the Samoothiri of Calicut.
