Aami has been through its fair share of controversies as Bollywood actress Vidya Balan, who had been roped in to play the lead, backed out of the project days before the movie was to start production.
Meanwhile, when director Kamal signed on Manju Warrier for the role, she was subject to some criticism on social media. The How Old Are You actress, though, declared that she won’t be walking away from what she considers her “dream role”.
Aami includes a stellar cast of Prithviraj, Murali Gopy and Anoop Menon, apart from Manju herself. The first schedule of the shoot will happen in Ottapalam where the childhood of the late poetess would be filmed. The crew will then move to Ernakulam, Mumbai and Kolkata to complete the rest of the schedule.
The film is expected to wrap up shoot by September.
