Filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, who last delivered the hit Tamil film Karnan (2021), is set to join hands with actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin for an upcoming project, which will also star comedian Vadivelu and actor Fahadh Faasil, a source in the know confirmed to Silverscreen India on condition of anonymity.
However, the makers are yet to make an official announcement regarding this.
The source added that the film is expected to be produced by Udhaynidhi’s home banner Red Giant Movies.
The yet-to-be-titled project will be the director’s third film after Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan and will mark his first collaboration with all three actors. “Mari Selvaraj will be completing the film with Udhaynidhi before proceeding with the one starring Dhruv Vikram. Vadivelu and Faahadh Faasil were approached to play roles in the Udhaynidhi-starrer and they were finalised recently. The project is currently in the pre-production stage,” said the source.
As per a DT Next report, the filmmaker has completed the script and the film is expected to go on floors in January and be wrapped up by April.
Meanwhile, all the actors involved have various other projects lined up.
Udhaynidhi, who is currently serving as MLA of Chennai’s Chepauk-Triplicane constituency, will next be seen in Nenjukku Needhi, the Tamil remake of the Hindi film Article 15, which is being helmed by Arunraja Kamaraj. He also has a film with director Magizh Thirumeni and filmmaker Maran’s Kannai Nambathey in the pipeline.

Fahadh, on the other hand, is currently working with Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi on the upcoming film Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He will also be seen as the antagonist in the pan-Indian two-part film Pushpa. The first part is scheduled to hit the big screens on December 17.
Vadivelu recently amicably resolved his issues with filmmaker Shankar, which had led to him being banned in the Tamil film industry. With their differences sorted, Imsai Arasan 24am Pulikesi is expected to be back on track and the actor also announced that he will be starring in five films backed by Lyca Productions.
