Entertainment journalist turned director MR Bharathi’s debut directorial Azhiyatha Kolangal is a feel good romantic drama starring Prakash Raj, Archana, Revathi and Nasser. The director issued a statement saying, “Even though, I haven’t been able to assist late director Balu Mahendra, I shared a great rapport with him for 20 years as a journalist. The aim of directing Azhiyatha Kolangal is to helm quality films like he did. That is the reason we have used his title Azhiyatha Kolangal for our film as well. Azhiyatha Kolangal is a dedication to our guru.”
This film is about two college mates, played by Prakash Raj and Archana, who accidentally bump into one another during a rainstorm. Revathi and Nasser agreed to be a part of this film, after they were told it was a tribute to Balu Mahendra. Balu Mahendra passed away in February last year.
Azhiyatha Kolangal, produced by small screen actress Eswari Rao and Dev Sinha, has music scored by Arvind Siddhartha. Cinematographer Rajesh K Nair and editor M Kasi Viswanathan are a part of the technical team.
