Director Mysskin has begun scouting locations for the much-awaited sequel of Thupparivalan, starring Vishal in the lead.
He is currently in London where he visited the Sherlock Holmes Museum and shared pictures. The film and its hero is inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective character Sherlock Holmes and saw Vishal play detective Kaniyan Poogundran. Actor Prasanna played a character close to Sherlock’s associate Dr John Watson.

The film’s spokesperson told Silverscreen that Vishal will produce the sequel too, and the film is likely to go on floors from October after his Sundar C film Action is complete.
In April, Mysskin met Vishal and Sundar C on the sets of Action in Cappadocia to discuss the sequel.

The original film was launched in March 2016, and released to huge box office success in September 2017. During release, there were reports that the film was heavily inspired by Sherlock Holmes, to which Mysskin had said in a statement, “Everyone gets inspired from something or the other. Edgar Allen Poe came up with the first detective story and then came Sherlock Holmes. There is a thin line between inspiration and plagiarism.” He added that only Vishal and Prasanna’s characters were inspired from the novel.
The film is about a detective who traces clues to several cases while helping a young boy find the murderer of his dog. Vinay starred as the antagonist, and Anu Emmanuel, Andrea Jeremiah played important roles. Music was by Arrol Carroli, and the makers avoided including multiple songs in the film. The only song featured was ‘Ivan Thupparivaalan’ written by Mysskin, who sang it along with Hemambiga.
Vishal works with Tamannaah and Aishwarya Lekshmi in Action. The film wrapped up shoot recently and posters were released.

Mysskin was recently seen in Suttu Pidikka Utharavu, and Super Deluxe, which he also co-wrote, and has Psycho on the direction front. The film, featuring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Nithya Menen and Aditi Rao Hydari, is facing delays due to Mysskin’s other commitments.
