Aramm 2, the sequel to the political drama from last year featuring Nayanthara in the lead, will reportedly go on floors this September. According to The Times of India, shooting will begin once Nayanthara wraps up with Sye Raa and a horror-thriller directed by Sarjun KM.
Nayanthara, the ‘Lady Superstar’ of Tamil Nadu, has had three releases in 2017 – Dora, Aramm, and Velaikkaran. Aramm, however, was a film that was met with a resounding applause and a surprisingly feminist angle in a commercial Tamil film. The film revolves around a water crisis in a remote village. Nayanthara plays a district collector who fights for the people, and against a corrupt government.
While it was reported last year that a sequel of the film would happen, nothing was confirmed. TOI reports that the sequel will delve into caste and religious discrimination, produced by Kotapadi Rajesh of KJR Studios. The rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised. Some reports also suggest that Nayanthara’s character might join politics in the sequel.
If these images are to be believed, then district collector Madhivadhani has got herself a new designer cotton sari.
