Nikesha Patel will play the lead role in Shigandi. The actress has been roped in to star as the love interest of actor Vijay Vasanth in the film. The team was in talks with actresses like Sri Divya to play the lead role, but zeroed in on Nikesha, as they felt that ‘she was apt for it’.

Director SS Rajapandi, who debuted with the critically-acclaimed Ennamo Nadakkuthu, revealed that this film will focus on corruption and the declining standards in the Indian education system. Triple V Records is producing this film while Premgi Amaren is composing music. Samuthirakani is in talks to play an important role in the film, alongside Nasser, Saranya Ponvannan and, Manoj K Bharathi among others. Sources close to the project told us that Soori might also make a special appearance.
Nikesha is also part of another thriller – Karaiyoram.
