Padmavathy, daughter of yesteryear producer SNS Thirumal, has claimed that the copyright of the film solely lies with her. She said that Raghu Manivannan had not even approached her regarding the remake.

In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, Padmavathy said that she was taken aback when Raghu Manivannan announced the remake without discussing with her. She further added that she has plans to remake Nooravathu Naal and had even registered it with the Tamil Film Producers Council.

It is also said that late director-actor Manivannan had signed papers addressing producer Thirumal, stating that he (Manivannan) had no rights to use the title or anything related to the story of Nooravathu Naal.

Padmavathy said that she has filed a complaint with TFPC regarding this issue.

Last week, Raghu Manivannan in an interview to TOI, stated that he is rebooting his father’s classic cult film Nooravathu Naal. He said that although the essence of the story would remain the same, the new film will have a contemporary touch to it.

It was also reported that Natraj of Sathuranga Vettai fame will be reprising Vijaykanth’s role in the remake. Natraj, while talking Deccan Chronicle, confirmed that he was approached for the role and has given his nod. However, he hasn’t signed an agreement yet.

Raghu Manivannan announced that Niro Praba, a longtime associate of AR Rahman, will be composing music for this thriller film. The director had even said that he’s planning to kick start the film by April.
