Om Namo Venkatesaya Director Says He Doesn’t Make Movies For Money

Following the box-office failure of his film, Om Namo Venkatesaya, director K Raghavendra Rao has said he doesn’t make movies to make money, as reported by the Times of India. The film, starring Nagarjuna, Anushka Shetty, and Pragya Jaiswal, failed to meet box-office expectations.

K Raghavendra Rao was speaking during a visit to the Dwaraka Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple. 

Raghavendra Rao also said that devotional movies weren’t always major commercial successes. Clarifying that he doesn’t always make movies for profit, he said, “Out of the 108 movies I have made, only 80 movies have been runaway hits.”

Om Namo Venkatesya is based on the life and times of Baba Hathiram, an 18th century devotee of Lord Venkateshwara. The movie also starred Anushka Shetty and Pragya Jaiswal in pivotal roles.
