Comedian Danish Sait will bring Gopi, a character of a government school teacher that he created during the Covid-19 lockdown, to life in an upcoming Kannada film titled One Cut Two Cut, that will be backed by Puneeth Rajkumar‘s production banner PRK Productions.
“Gopi, the character that I created on the internet, is now becoming a full-fledged film,” Sait told Silverscreen India.
The poster of One Cut Two Cut was released on Friday. The film will be directed by standup comedian Vamsidhar Bhogaraju, who also wrote the dialogues for Sait’s debut film, Humble Politician Nograj in which Puneeth Rajkumar had also appeared in a cameo role.
The story is about Gopi’s first day at school and all the things that go awry, Sait told Silverscreen India. Gopi is a character created and played by Sait in an episode titled Perfect Proposal from his Youtube channel. In the original episode, Gopi is in search of a suitable life partner.
“So, I’m playing Gopi, who is an origami teacher, and it is his first day at a government school and everything that goes wrong there. It is a crazy comedy action film. The shooting will take place all indoors in one location,” Sait told Silverscreen India.
This will be the third time that Sait will be bringing one of his characters to life in a comedy feature film. Sait played the role of a corrupt politician, named Nograj, in his debut film titled Humble Politician Nograj (2018), which won him the South Indian International Movie Award for Best Debutante in Kannada and was backed by actor Rakshit Shetty and filmmaker Hemanth Rao. Sait played the role of an auto driver, named Asgar, in his next venture, an Amazon Prime Video film titled French Biriyani (2020), that was also backed by Puneeth Rajkumar’s PRK Productions.
Shooting for One Cut Two Cut will begin in February.
