The film, produced by the E4 Entertainment banner, stars actors Biju Menon, Roshan Mathew, Nimisha Sajayan, and Padmapriya, in the lead roles. It is an adaptation of the famous Malayalam short story Amminipilla Vettu Case by writer GR Indhugopan.

Sreejith, who is also the co-writer of the upcoming Prithviraj directorial Bro Daddy, tells Silverscreen India that the plot has been dramatised a bit to adapt it to the medium of cinema.

The filmmaker, who has previously co-written the Malayalam film Pakida (2014) and runs the company Oldmonks Design, says the team began the pre-production work of Oru Thekkan Thallu Case about 2-3 years ago.

“The short story was released 4-5 years back and since then, we have been wanting to adapt it as it had the scope to become a feature film. However, we were only able to start on it a couple of years ago. Since it is a big scale film, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we could not begin production until now,” he adds.

The makers are planning to start shooting from August 25. “We are waiting for the Kerala government to give the green signal to start shooting. It is a coastal side story set in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram of the early 80s, so we will be shooting in those places that will give the look and feel of the 80s,” says Sreejith.

Calling Oru Thekkan Thallu Case a light-hearted film, he adds, “It is tough to say what genre it is. Basically, it is humour-based drama revolving around a small fight and its revenge. However, there is no violence and it is a complete family entertainer.”

Speaking about the cast, the director says, “Biju Menon plays the main protagonist and Padmapriya plays Rukmini, his wife. This is not a single hero film, and each character will have their own screen space. Nimisha plays Vasundhri and Roshan essays Podiyan, however, they are not paired opposite each other.”

Asked about his other project, Bro Daddy, Sreejith reveals that the multi-starrer is set to commence filming in Hyderabad from Thursday. Bro Daddy, which marks the second directorial of Prithviraj, stars the actor-filmmaker alongside Mohanlal, Meena, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Lalu Alex, Murali Gopy, Kaniha, and Soubin.
