Sure we are just past the first quarter of 2018 but enough movies have been watched — and endeared themselves to viewers — for the chatter about next years awards to have begun among fans and bloggers alike. Catch some of the chatter on places such as Indiewire, where they have come up with their guesses for winners in two major categories, that of Best Supporting Actor and Best Actress.

Best Actress predictions include Charlize Theron in the movie Tully, about a woman who mourns the loss of her child. If it’s true that the Academy has a flavour of the season that lasts for a few years, Theron’s role might have the advantage of being in the similar mould as Frances McDormand’s character as a grieving mother in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Another reason fans are attributing to why Theron might win is because of the weight she has gained, and the eventual transformation, for this film, bringing to mind her commitment to Monster. Other runners in the category includes Kiera Knightly and Carrey Mulligan.

In the supporting actor category, Indiewire’s Anne Thompson who also did the above predictions foretells that Micheal B Jordan’s portrayal of Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther would be the frontrunner, while Steve Carrel, Russell Crowe, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci would be equal contenders.
