An online petition demanding Priyanka Chopra’s removal as the UNICEF brand ambassador was started in Pakistan after the actress put up a post supporting the Indian Armed Forces’ (IAF) retaliatory strikes targeting the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist camp at Balkot.
The petition states that being a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, the actress ought to have stayed neutral amidst escalating tensions between the two countries. “War between two nuclear powers can only lead to destruction and death. As goodwill ambassador of UNICEF, Priyanka Chopra was supposed to stay neutral and peaceful but her tweet in favour of Indian arm forces after they invaded Pakistan airspace shows otherwise. She doesn’t deserve this title anymore (sic),” read the petition, reports IE.
India’s retaliatory attack came as a response to the bombing of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy by members of the JeM group, which took the lives of more than 40 personnel in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The IAF’s retaliatory strike was lauded by Priyanka Chopra in her tweet.

The petition against the actress has already gathered over 4200 signatures out of a 5000 mark, reports NDTV. The UN is yet to respond to this. The actress was appointed as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2016. She has been involved with the organization for more than 10 years.
Meanwhile, Chopra said in a recent interview that she never takes trolls seriously. She said that it was the media who gave them undue importance. “I have never spoken about them — the trolls — as they are trolls. I think the media gives them way more importance. I don’t know when it happened that other people’s opinions became newsworthy. I don’t find them important.”
