Director Pandiraj is getting ready with the script for Suriya’s next. The film is likely to go on floors after he completes work on his upcoming Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, say sources.
Actor Suriya’s fans have been celebrating the news since the director confirmed it on Twitter. He had responded to the request of a Suriya fan, and said “a pukka mass rural action comedy family entertainer” script for the actor was getting ready. The comments were below Pandiraj’s tweet wishing Ajith on his birthday on May 1.

A source close to Pandiraj told Silverscreen that the film with Suriya was planned even before his Karthi-starrer Kadaikutty Singam, produced by Suriya, went on floors. “The project got postponed because the director’s film with Sivakarthikeyan worked out and Suriya got busy with other projects,” he said.
Pandiraj and Suriya have been close friends for years now, and also worked together on Pasanga 2, the blockbuster film which released in 2015. This was Suriya’s second production venture, starring him in a memorable role as Thamizh Nadan, a child psychiatrist. The film was a thematic sequel to Pandiraj’s 2009 debut Pasanga, also featuring many first time child actors in the lead.
As of May 2, Pasanga completed 10 years at the box office. Pandiraj shared a picture of the team and said he was so happy on the occasion. “Truly, when I made Pasanga, I thought it would be my first and last film,” he said. He thanked the film’s team including his mentor Cheran, the film’s producer, Sasikumar, actor Vemal, Samuthirakani, director Prem Kumar and others.

Director Pandiraj’s film with Sivakarthikeyan is expected to go on floors on May 8. Unconfirmed reports say that Aishwarya Rajesh plays the female lead. Cinematography is by Nirav Shah and production by Sun Pictures. More announcements about the cast and crew are awaited. Actor Suriya is gearing up for the release of NGK, and also has Kaapaan, Soorarai Pottrru, and a film with director Siva scheduled for 2019.
