Pathaan, the upcoming Hindi film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, will release in theatres on January 25, 2023.
As Khan’s first film in over three years, following Aanand L Rai’s Zero in 2018, Pathaan is one of the most eagerly awaited upcoming movies. It is the 50th film produced by Aditya Chopra‘s Yash Raj Films banner.
Khan announced the film’s release date on Wednesday with a short teaser spanning a little over a minute. “I know it’s late, but remember the date. Pathaan time starts now. See you in cinemas on 25th January, 2023. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Celebrate Pathaan with YRF50 only at a big screen near you,” he wrote.
The video features Abraham and Padukone speaking about the protagonist Pathaan, played by Khan. It also includes a glimpse of Khan himself in silhouette without revealing his look. While Abraham plays the antagonist in the film, Padukone is the female lead.
Actor Salman Khan will reportedly make a cameo appearance in the film as well.
This is the first time the film has been officially announced. However, there was much speculation about it over the past three years following the leak of Khan’s look from the film. Pathaan reportedly kicked off in November 2020.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan is said to be an intense action drama and a spy thriller. The film tells the story of a spy agent who goes to any length to protect his nation.
