PC George, the veteran Malayalam actor, died at a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala, on Friday.
He was 74.
George suffered from kidney-related ailments and had been undergoing treatment for some time.
George, a native of Koratti in Thrissur, was a policeman by profession. He debuted with Amba Ambika Ambalika (1976) directed by P Subramaniam. Starring in over 65 films, he had portrayed several antagonist roles.
Before his career in cinema, George, during his school and college days had actively participated in mimicry, mono acting and later ventured into the theatre space.
George rose to fame with his performance as a villian in Sangham (1988) directed by Joshiy. The film also stars Mammootty, Thilakan, Parvathy Jayaram and Saritha in the lead roles.
The veteran actor had collaborated with notable directors like Joshiy, KG George, and Padmarajan. He had also acted in movies like Adharvam (1989), Peruvannaputathe Visheshangal (1989), Chanakyan (1989), Innale (1990) and Injikadan Mathai and Sons (1993).

One of his prominent works was Chanakyan where George played the role of Deputy Superintendent of Police. The thriller film directed by TK Rajeev starred Kamal Haasan, Urmila Matondkar, Jayaram, Madhu, and Thilakan. In Peruvannaputathe Vishseshangal, George played the role of Parvathy Jayaram’s uncle. The romantic comedy film directed by Kamal starring Jayaram, Jagathy Sreekumar, Innocent and Siddique was a commercial success at the box office.
George also starred in Dweepu, a 1977 film directed by National Award-winning director Ramu Kariat. The film starred Jose, Shobana, Kuttyedathi Vilasini and Alleppey Ashraf in the lead roles.
After a long break, George made a comeback with Chiratta Kalippattangal (2006) film directed by Jose Thomas.
He retired from the Kerala Police Department in the rank of Superintendent of Police.
Malayalam actors Mohanlal and Mammootty took to their social media handles to mourn the demise of the veteran actor.
Last week, renowned Malayalam director Dennis Joseph died of cardiac arrest. He had directed George in Adharvam.
George’s funeral was held at St Joseph’s Church in Karukutty near Kochi on Saturday.
He is survived by his wife Kochumary, daughters Kanakambali, Kanchana, and son Saban Rijo.
