Tamil film Peranbu by director Ram has been touring the film festivals and winning many accolades. The film had its world premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival this year. It was also nominated for the NETPAC award at the festival.
Peranbu was the only Indian film to be in the top 20 among the 187 world films competing for the Audience Award category.
Now, the film is going to have its Asian premiere at the 21 Shanghai International Film Festival, from June 16 to 25. In a recent press note, it is said that team Peranbu has decided to release the film in theatres after it’s premiere at Shanghai.

Peranbu is a family drama with Mammootty in the lead. It has transsexual woman Anjali as the heroine of the film. Thanga Meenkal fame child artist Sadhana is also a part of the main cast.
Ram, who is also an actor, was last seen in the Tamil thriller Savarakathi, next to director Mysskin. The soundtrack and music of the film have been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics by Vairamuthu.
