Prabhu Deva Wants To Dedicate ‘Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja’ To Late Director Subhash

Actor-director Prabhu Deva has announced that his next movie, Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja, which will star Vishal and Karthi as the main leads, will be dedicated to the film’s writer and his late-friend, K Subash, who died in November last year after battling kidney problems.

The movie marks Prabhu’s return to direction after six years. He spoke to IANS about meeting director Subhash during his last days: “When I met him last year, he told me he wasn’t sure if he would be around to see the film. I told him everything is going to be alright. Unfortunately, he left us even before we could start the project. I would like to dedicate this film to him.”

K Subash is known for directing the 1990 Vijayakanth-starrer Sathriyan, and even penned the script for the Bollywood movie, Chennai Express

Prabhu Deva, talking about the movie, said that it wasn’t easy bringing two popular heroes together on screen. “However, Karthi and Vishal agreed to work together because of the script. They were really impressed by what Subhash had written,” he added.

When asked about returning to direction after a long hiatus, he quipped, “When I set up my production company Prabhudheva Studios, my partner wanted me to direct the first film. I wasn’t very keen back then and I was looking for an interesting script. This is the fifth film in our banner. Subhash was very close to me and I thought I wouldn’t get a better script to return to direction.”

The movie stars Sayeshha as the female lead; Harris Jayaraj will compose music.
