Director Priyadarshan is all set to direct a movie in Tamil with Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead. The movie, an official remake of the Malayalam film Maheshinte Prathikaram, is likely to star Namitha Pramod as the female lead, if all goes to plan.
The National Award–winning director told the Deccan Chronicle, “Yes, I have brought Udhayanidhi to play the protagonist for my next flick, which is yet to be titled. It is a remake of Malayalam blockbuster Maheshinte Prathikaaram (Mahesh’s Revenge), which had Fahadh Faasil in the lead. Udhay will be reprising Fahadh’s role.”
The director said Udhayanidhi was his first choice for the male lead, “The film is a comedy drama and Udhay was my first choice for the central character. I am very confident that he would pull it off.”

Priyadarshan also said he would make changes in the script to make it Tamil- specific. He said he hadn’t yet completed the script work. Regarding the female lead, he said the team was in talks with Namitha to play the lead.
The shoot is expected to go on floors on 15 July.
“I have only signed Udhay and comedian MS Bhaskar, who will be seen in a crucial role. In the coming weeks, we would be confirming the other cast and crew,” he said.
