Director Rajapandi (of Yennamo Nadakudhu fame) and actor Vijay Vasanth are teaming up again for a movie called Shigandi. This is their second project together, and director Rajapandi confirmed the movie’s title on his Twitter page yesterday.

In a subsequent press release, Rajapandi said that Shigandi would be a “a fast paced action movie” like Ennamo Nadakkuthu and that it would expose a “social ill that we knowingly allow.” Vijay Vasanth will play one of the leads, and the press note also mentions another lead man who will essay an important role in the movie. The team is also on the lookout for a suitable actress to play the female lead. Premgi Amaren is scoring the music., and V Vinoth Kumar, who bankrolled Ennamo Nadakkuthu, will produce Shigandi under his Triple V Records banner.
Shigandi is the name of a character from the Mahabharata. He was born as a girl named Shikandini and later changed into a man by exchanging her gender with a Yaksha. He fought on the side of the Pandavas in the Kurukshetra war.
