A red carpet was laid out for all the stars to walk on, and pose for the paparazzi. There were also portraits of Kamal Haasan, MGR, and Rajinikanth adorning the walls of the venue.
“It’s a happy thing that the Stunt Union completes 50 years on MGR’s 100th year. He helped 50 stunt families every month,” said Rajinikanth at the event, and thanked all the stunt masters who helped him perform “mass” stunts on camera.
Vishal revealed that he has several injuries on his body owing to all the stunts he has performed in his career. “I have 75 stitches in my body, all of which happened while doing stunt sequences,” said the TFPC president.
Suriya Sivakumar and his brother, Karthi, spoke about their toughest stunt sequences.
“The toughest film for me was Bala’s Nandha. It made me an action hero, thanks to him,” said Suriya. Karthi believed Alex Pandian was his toughest film, and thanked his stuntmen for being able to bring it alive on screen.
Suriya and Karthi’s father, Sivakumar, too attended the ceremony, and donated Rs 10 lakh to the Stunt Union.
The event was aired on Sun TV last evening.
