The first look poster of Annaatthe, starring Rajinikanth, was released by the makers of the film on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaturthi on Friday.
The Tamil action-drama is set to hit the big screens on November 4 on the occasion of Diwali.
Annaatthe is backed by Sun Pictures, which has previously produced the Rajinikanth starrers Endhiran (2010) and Petta (2019).
The film is written and directed by filmmaker Siva, in his maiden collaboration with Rajinikanth. It features a large star cast, including actors Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj, Soori, Meena, and Kushboo, among others.
The film will have music by D Imman, who won a National Award for his previous collaboration with Siva, the Ajith-starrer Viswasam.
Annaatthe went on floors in 2020 but was halted due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the resultant lockdown. Filming resumed in Hyderabad in December. However, the shooting was again suspended a week later when four of the crew tested positive for Covid-19 during routine testing on the sets. Rajinikanth and other cast and crew members had tested negative.

Two days after the shoot was halted in Hyderabad, Rajinikanth was hospitalised at Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad due to “severe fluctuations” in his blood pressure. Though his health was stable, hospital authorities said he was admitted to the hospital for further evaluation. They also confirmed that Rajinikanth had tested negative for the coronavirus. Shortly thereafter, the actor announced his decision to back away from politics citing his precarious health.
The filming of Annaatthe was later resumed in February, but was stalled yet again due to the second wave of the pandemic. Shooting was again resumed in July and the film is currently nearing completion.
Annaatthe is being shot by cinematographer Vetri Palanisamy, with Ruben handling the editing and Dhilip Subbarayan serving as the stunt coordinator.
Rajinikanth was last seen in the 2020 action thriller Darbar, alongside Nayanthara. The film was directed by AR Murugadoss.
