A Ludhiana court on Saturday granted actress and dancer Rakhi Sawant a conditional bail in connection with the case filed against her for hurting sentiments of the Valmiki community. According to a Hindustan Times report, the judge also ordered her to appear before the trial court of judicial magistrate Vishav Gupta on or before August 25.
Last month, Rakhi was to appear in the Ludhiana court. However, she couldn’t make it due to a foot injury. She issued another apology on the occasion. “I never meant to hurt anyone. However, if I did it in ignorance, I seek an apology from the people,” she said.
However, for failing to appear in court, Judicial Magistrate Vishav Gupta ordered a fresh arrest warrant, and set the matter for a September hearing.

A lawyer named Narinder Adiya had filed the case against Sawant in July last year under section 295 (hurting religious sentiments) of the IPC for her alleged derogatory comments on Maharishi Valmiki on television.
On several occasions, Sawant had apologised for her comments, even once stating that she was merely referencing something she had read in her childhood. “Just like Valmiki, who got changed from being a robber to a saint, Mika ji also has changed. It was just an example.”
