Sanjay Bharati, son of director Santhana Bharati, while speaking to ToI explained his decision to cast Rhea Chakraborty for the role. “I wanted a fresh face for this role. I have seen her films and find her cute and energetic. In fact, Rhea reminds me of Genelia and Nazriya… they have some sort of infectious energy in them. Her role, too, demands that kind of energy. I felt that she would be apt to play this character.”
The actress apparently follows Tamil films, which she believes would help her pick up the language.
The director said, “I met her in Hyderabad for a script narration. She liked her role and mentioned that this would be a good debut for her in Kollywood. She even told me that she follows Tamil films. I am certain that she will quickly pick up the language, too.”

Bharati added that there were two ‘strong’ heroines in the movie. While the other one was yet to be finalized, he spoke at length about Rhea Chakraborty’s character. “Her character is fun, but at the same time, not senseless. It is more like work while you work and play while you play. She is fun but also aspires to become something. It is not just a song-and-dance role but a performance-oriented one.”
Rhea Chakraborty was last seen in the 2018 film Jalebi. The actress had made her acting debut in the 2012 Telugu film Tuneega Tuneega. She later went on to act in the 2013 Hindi film Mere Dad Ki Maruti which turned out to be a success.
Meanwhile, Harish Kalyan was last seen in Ispade Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum. He also had a cameo appearance in Nani’s Telugu film Jersey which is currently running theatres. The actor will be reportedly playing an automobile mechanic, who believes in astrology in Dhanasu Raasi Neyargalae. Music for the movie will be composed by Ghibran.
