Rohit Shetty Excludes Pregnant Kareena From Golmaal 4; Actress Says She Is Surprised

Actress Kareena Kapoor, at a recent press meet, said that her pregnancy shouldn’t be a deterrence to the directors who wanted to cast her in their films. The actress was responding to a remark made by director Rohit Shetty that he didn’t cast Kareena in his next film, Golmaal 4, owing to her pregnancy. “It would have been easy to call her and tell her to do the film. She would have said, ‘Let’s do it’. But I can’t do that. I can’t talk to her (as she is pregnant) to do it (Golmaal 4). It’s odd. But let’s see, we will do a song or something with her,” Shetty had said.

Kareena, who had been a part of a number of Shetty’s previous films, expressed surprised at the director’s statements. “Those who have a role for me they will come to me. Pregnant or not. I don’t think there is anything wrong in that. Why should he be scared? I should be scared of him!,” she said while addressing an audience at an event organised by Adhuna Bhabani’s hair salon Bblunt on Tuesday.

Kareena also revealed that she would not star in a song number in Golmaal 4. “That is not going to happen. I am not even thinking of that.”

Kareena, who is married to actor Saif Ali Khan, announced her pregnancy in July 2016. As media went into overdrive with reports about her ‘maternity break’, the actress lashed out and said, “I am pregnant, not a corpse. And what maternity break? It’s the most normal thing on earth to produce a child. It is high time the media back off, and stop treating me any different than I ever was”.

Kareena will be next seen in the lead role in Shashanka Ghosh’s Veere Di Wedding, a romantic comedy co-starring Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania.
