Director Rohit Shetty, along with Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn donated Rs 51 lakh from the earnings of Simmba to the Mumbai Police welfare fund during Mumbai Police’s annual cultural festival Umang 2019.
According to a report in FirstPost, the actors handed over the cheque on behalf Shetty’s production house Rohit Shetty Picturez, to the Commissioner of Police at the event. There were several other Bollywood celebrities present at the event, including Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor.
Simmba, which released on 28 December, starred Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the lead. Produced by Dharma Productions, the action-comedy which is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Temper has become a box office hit. As of Monday, the total box office collection stands at Rs 239.60 crore.

The film revolves around a dishonest cop who has a change of heart after an untoward incident shakes him. Ranveer plays the cop and Sara Ali Khan is the female lead. The film has an ensemble cast featuring Sonu Sood, Sangharsh and Ashutosh Rana. Sara Ali Khan was recently seen in Kedarnath opposite Sushant Singh Rajput.
On the work front, Rohit Shetty’s upcoming Sooryavanshi is a cop film featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead as the chief of India’s anti-terrorism squad. Reports are speculating that Ranveer and Ajay will also make appearances in the film, as Simmba and Singham respectively.
Rohit will also be directing the fifth installment of the Golmaal franchise. The film will star Shreyas, Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemmu, Tusshar Kapoor and Ajay Devgn.
