‘Saaga’ Fame Shabir To Compose For Sivakarthikeyan’s Second Production

Music director Shabir has joined Sivakarthikeyan’s second production venture. The movie, tentatively titled Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu, is directed by Karthik Venugopalan. The shoot for the film wrapped up last month, reports CE.

The movie features television star Rio Raj in the lead, along with actors Shirin Kanchwala, Radha Ravi, and Nanjil Sampath. Shabir announced his participation in the project through a tweet two days back.

The Singapore-born music composer is best known for the song ‘Yaayum’ from Saaga. His work in the recently released Santhanam-starrer Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 was also appreciated. The lyric video of his song ‘Mavanae Yaarukittae’, from the movie, has over five lakh viewers on YouTube. The composer has two more projects in the making – Neeya 2 and the yet-to-be-titled film by GN Kumaravel.

The cinematographer for Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu is UK Senthil Kumar, and Fenny Oliver is the editor. Fenny Oliver previously worked for Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi’s Meesaya Murukku. Art for the film is by Kamalnathan.

The film was announced by Sivakarthikeyan at the audio launch of Kanaa, in August. On signing up for the film, Sivakarthikeyan said, “We liked the team and their idea which sounded like a lot of fun, and had an element of social message.”

The film’s director Karthik Venugopalan is a popular YouTuber who gained fame through his channel Black Sheep Tamil. VJ Rio, who began his career in Vijay TV in Kana Kaanum Kaalangal, and then worked as an anchor in Sun Music, attained fame with the serial Saravanan Meenakshi.

Sivakarthikeyan’s debut production venture was last year’s Kanaa. The movie, directed by lyricist turned director Arunraja Kamaraj, featured Aishwarya Rajesh and Sathyaraj in the lead. It centred on a woman’s dreams of playing for the National cricket team. Also featuring Sivakarthikeyan in a cameo, Kanna went on to become a success.
