The makers of Prabhas‘ 22nd film, Adipurush have revealed that actor Saif Ali Khan has joined the team and will essay the role of the antagonist named Lankesh. Helmed by Tanhaji director Om Raut, the epic drama will be jointly bankrolled by Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair under their Retrophiles banner and by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under their T-Series banner. The film marks the second association of Om Raut, Bhushan Kumar, and Saif Ali Khan after Tanhaji.

The actor’s portrayals of Langda Tyagi in Omkara and Udaybhan Rathod in Tanhaji have garnered a lot of critical acclaim.
Adipurush is reportedly a screen adaptation of the Indian epic ‘Ramayana’. The magnum opus bilingual will be shot in 3D and is said to be high on action and VFX. While the rest of the cast and crew is unknown, Kharthik Palani who was widely appreciated for his visuals in the recent Keerthy Suresh starrer Penguin has been roped in as cinematographer.
Speaking about Saif, Prabhas said, “I am super excited to work with Saif Ali Khan and I am eager to share screen space with a great actor.”

Producer Bhushan Kumar says, “Saif blew us all over with his role as Udaybhan in Tanhaji, and he takes it a notch higher with his role in Adipurush. He is the perfect choice in this battle between good and evil with Prabhas.”
Adipurush will be shot in Hindi and Telugu and will see a dubbed release in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. The team is currently working on the pre-production for the film and will go on floors in 2021. The film is slated for release in 2022.
