Samuthirakani and Athulya Ravi-starrer Adutha Saattai is facing release issues as the film’s producer, Prabhu Thilak of 11:11 Productions, has decided to cut all ties with its distributor Ravindran of Libra Productions.
Earlier this month, Libra Productions announced that they will release Adutha Saattai in Tamil Nadu on September 6. However, Samuthirakani took to Twitter on August 27 to say that they will not be associated with Libra anymore and there was no honesty in its business.

To this, Libra tweeted asking the producers to return Rs 50 lakh, the amount that they paid.

Speaking to Silverscreen, Prabhu Thilak said that Libra has been unresponsive. “This was an agreement based on trust and no contract was signed, but there has been no honesty in Ravindran’s business. He initially gave us cheques which bounced and when we brought this to his notice, there was no proper response. After multiple calls, he managed to pay Rs 50 lakh in installments and we are still waiting for the remaining amount. Other buyers haven’t approached us because Libra announced themselves as the distributors. They should either pay us so we can release the film or allow us to sell the rights to others,” he said.
Prabhu Thilak has approached the Tamil Film Producers’ Council and the Distributors’ Association with his complaint. “If he has already sold the film to others, then I will not be responsible to pay them back. I have told the councils that I cannot trust him,” he said.
Silverscreen has reached out to Libra Productions and is awaiting a response.
The film is written and directed by M Anbazhagan and stars Thambi Ramaiah, Junior Balaiah, Yuvan, Paandi and others in important roles. M Sasikumar makes a cameo appearance, music is by Justin Prabhakaran, cinematography by Rasamathi and editing by Nirmal.
The shooting began in December 2018 in Chennai, and a teaser released in July this year. The film is set in a college and is reportedly about the lapses in the education system.
