Lingusamy’s Sandakozhi 2, starring Vishal, Varalaxmi and Keerthy Suresh, was officially launched with a puja today. The shoot will begin on August 31. The set, consisting of a Madurai backdrop, is currently being erected in Chennai. After shooting there, the team will then head to Theni and Karaikudi for the rest of the schedule.
Speaking to Silverscreen, Lingusamy said, “I have retained the Rajkiran and Vishal’s part of Sandakozhi. Other than that, I have tweaked the script as there are two female leads in the sequel. I have written a new script for the sequel based on the crux of the first film’s story.”
He also said, “We are planning to shoot for 40 days continuously on the set, that is being prepared. After completing the first schedule here, we will be heading to Theni and Karaikudi.”
Lingusamy said the film would be packed with action. He said, “We are planning for a Pongal release. All these days I took time to pen down the script and I was scouting locations for the shoot.”
Lingusamy was supposed to work with Allu Arjun for a bilingual film. The director has postponed the film’s work to take up Sandakozhi 2. After completing this film, he says he will move on to the bilingual.
Sandakozhi was a breakthrough film in both Lingusamy and Vishal’s career. Actress Meera Jasmine, who played the lead role in the prequel, has been roped in for a cameo in the sequel. Actor Soori and music director D Imman are also a part of the Sandakozhi 2 team.
