Sandakozhi 2, the upcoming action drama written and directed by N Linguswamy and starring Vishal and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, is all set to release on October 18, during the Navarathri holidays.
Speaking at the audio launch, Vishal said, “Sandakozhi was initially not written for me, but keeping Vijay and Suriya in mind. As my friendship with Linguswamy dates back a long time, I approached him. He trusted me and established me as an action hero when even my debut Chellame had not released. After having worked in Sandakozhi 2, I am proud to say that the Sandakozhi franchise is like The Godfather.”
Talking about Keerthy Suresh he said, “I have watched Keerthy’s other films and told her she will receive the National Award for Mahanati. I’m happy to work with her. She is good writer. I doesn’t know whether I will direct a film, but I’m sure that Keerthy will become a director.”
“Sandakozhi 2 and its Telugu version Pandem Kodi 2 will release on Ayudha Puja, with 2,000 prints,” he added.
The actor also took the opportunity to speak on the issue of online reviews, something he has mentioned earlier too. “Please share your reviews three days after the film’s release. Films may be good or bad, and I understand you have your freedom of expression but everyone’s human here. Those three days will give the producers and filmmakers an opportunity to save their films,” he said during the launch. He specified that he was referring to digital media, and not newspaper or television reviews.
Speaking about his lead actor, director Linguswamy said, “It was hard to believe that 13 years have passed since Sandakozhi was released. Vishal has not changed at all.”

Saying that shooting for the film was a stress-buster, Keerthy said: “Personally, this film was a stress-buster because I was working on Mahanati at the same time, and that was a very demanding film. Even while taking this up, I wondered if I would be able to do justice to a role made memorable by the incredibly talented Meera Jasmine.”
Produced under the Vishal Film Factory banner, the film stars Vishal, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Rajkiran in the lead. Meera Jasmine apparently has a cameo in the film. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
