Sathyaraj, who plays a rough and tough cop in Poojai, called it a ‘purely commercial film’. The actor was supposed to be a part of Hari’s Venghai, but had opted out later. When Hari approached him for Poojai, Sathyaraj wanted to make up for lost opportunities, he said in a recent interview. “When Hari first told me the story, I was captivated by its racy screenplay and immediately agreed to star in it.” He was also all praise for his co-star, Vishal’s acting skills. “After watching Avan Ivan, I told Vishal that he will get an award. Poojai will not fetch him awards, but it will make him a satisfied and successful producer.”
Poojai is set for a Deepavali release and also marks the comeback of Shruti Haasan, who has not been seen in a Tamil film since 2012.
