To mark the 100th birthday of auteur Satyajit Ray, production house Sree Venkatesh Films (SVF) on Wednesday announced a film which will bring together iconic literary characters Feluda and Shonku both created by Satyajit Ray.
Taking to Twitter, SVF co-founder Mahendra Soni wrote that was the production house’s first project announcement. The picture shared along with his tweet indicated that the film will be an anthology of a story each from the Feluda and the Professor Shonku series.

The last venture of Sandip Ray, Satyajit Ray’s son, was Professor Shonku O El Dorado (2019), which went on to became a huge hit at the box office. Modelled along the lines of Professor Challenger by Arthur Conan Doyle, Satyajit Ray created Professor Shonku as a scientist and inventor.
The character of Feluda, a private Bengali investigator, was immortalised on screen by Soumitra Chatterjee. Sandip Ray’s last Feluda film was Double Feluda (2016) and he was set to adapt Chhinamastar Abhishap for the detective series. No confirmation has been made however regarding this.

Sandip Ray started his career as an assistant and still photographer to his illustrious father in the 1970s. The director had recently informed that he would be publishing some unseen stills taken in 1973 during the shoot of Sonar Kella, Satyajit Ray’s first Feluda film.
Since directorial debut in 1983 with Phatik Chand, Sandip Ray has delivered some classic masterpieces like Goopy Bagha Phire Elo, Bombaiyer Bombete, Baksho Rahasya, Kailashe Kelnkari, Tintorettor Jishu, and more.
Meanwhile, as theatres started opening in West Bengal, SVF Cinemas welcomed their customers with a special offer of Rs 11 per ticket for the first weekend. Films like Dracula Sir, Professor Shonku o El Dorado, Dwitiyo Purush, Ghare Bairey Aaj, and, Love Aaj Kal Porshu will be screened during the festive season.
