Love Story, Sekhar Kammula’s upcoming Telugu romantic film starring Chaitanya Akkineni and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, is set to release in theatres on September 10, on the occasion of Vinayaka Chaviti. The makers of the film made the announcement on social media on Wednesday.
The film, written and directed by Kammula, is backed by the filmmaker’s production banner Amigos Creations in association with Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP.
Love Story marks the maiden collaboration of the lead actors. It is also Akkineni’s first project with Kammula. However, it is the second film for the director with Sai Pallavi, after the 2017 romantic comedy Fidaa.
Apart from the lead actors, Love Story also features actors Devayani, Rao Ramesh, Posani Krishna Murali, Rajeev Kanakala, and Easwari Rao in pivotal roles.
The film, which has music by Pawan Ch, cinematography by Vijay C Kumar and editing by Marthand K Venkatesh, was initially slated to release during the summer of 2020. But, owing to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was postponed.
The makers then announced that the film would hit the big screens on April 16, this year, but had to pull back just a week before the release due to a surge in Covid-19 cases. They had said that they would wait until the return of normalcy when the family audience could visit theatres again.
While the makers had earlier announced a simultaneous theatrical release in Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, the current announcement does not mention whether the film will be released in all three languages on September 10.

It is to be noted that Love Story is one of the first major releases from the Telugu film industry post the reopening of theatres following the Covid-19 second wave. While films like Thimmarusu and Ishq were earlier released on the big screen, followed by a slew of small-budget films, these only received a lukewarm response, and Telangana theatre owners had told Silverscreen India that they were pinning their hopes on bigger films for the revival of theatres.
