Shruti Haasan recently performed live in London as part of New Music Monday. The performance comprised mostly of original songs that were written and composed by Haasan.
Haasan, who is professionally trained in music, has sung for films under composers including Ilaiyaraaja, A.R. Rahman, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Harris Jeyaraj and Anirudh Ravichander. However, Haasan’s London performance was complemented by a piano and cello alone.
About her performance, Haasan said in a press statement, “It feels incredible to be back on stage performing. The set I performed was a unique and interesting style combining contemporary elements of the west with the magic of the east and seeing the response we received was just fantastic.” She plans to showcase more of her own music as the year progresses.
She had done a bunch of shows last year and plans to do more such gigs internationally. In addition to her original songs, Haasan has been working on a number of collaborations as well.
Haasan, who hasn’t had a movie release this year, was last seen in 2017’s Behen Hogi Teri. The romantic comedy starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead was directed by Ajay K Pannalal. Haasan also starred alongside Suriya in Singam 3 the same year.
