Simran will star opposite Madhavan in the upcoming film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. An official announcement from the makers is expected soon.
Having first worked together in the K.Balachander movie Paarthale Paravasam, Madhavan and Simran went on to feature in the 2002 Mani Ratnam film Kannathil Muthamittal. The duo played a married couple who had to inform their daughter that she was adopted. The movie went on to win several awards including six National Awards and the performance of the pair was appreciated.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect marks the coming together of this pair after 17 years. Simran will be playing the female lead opposite Madhavan, reports India Today. The actress was paired opposite Rajinikanth in Petta which is currently playing in theatres.
Rocketry features R.Madhavan in the role of the real-life scientist Nambi Narayanan. The actor would be sporting three different looks for the film, the film’s director Ananth Mahadevan said. He has helmed projects like Gour Hari Dastaan and Aksar.
“His character starts as 27-year-old Nambi Narayanan in Princeton and goes on till he is 70. So we are shooting the film in three stages: first in his early thirties to mid-forties, next from mid-forties to late fifties – that’s when the spy case actually happens and finally in his seventies, where he recalls everything. He has to undergo the transformations for each phase,” says Mahadevan.
