Singam 3 has been postponed. The film, originally scheduled to release on December 23, has been delayed reportedly due to its censor certification. The project is the third installment in the Singam franchise and was reportedly given a U/A certificate by the CBFC. This restricts the film from seeking the entertainment tax exemption, which is likely to adversely affect its box-office performance.
Lead actor Suriya attributed the delay to “several external factors”. The destruction wrought by cyclone Vardah is also likely to have contributed to the postponement.

Silverscreen has learnt that a recent petition filed with the Madras High Court, which led to an inquiry into the ticket prices of Singam 3, may also be affecting the release date.
