Shooting of actor Vikram’s ‘Spirit of Chennai’ song is currently underway in several places in the city. Yesterday, actors Prabhu Deva, Suriya, Jiiva, Bharath and actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar shot for the song near Broken Bridge in Adyar. Leading actors from the Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada industries will also shoot for the tribute song. The song will be released on January 26.

Vikram talked about his inspiration for the song at a Chennai Micro Volunteers event organised last Sunday by Siddharth and RJ Balaji. He said, ” I wanted to make a song about the hard work volunteers put in, to bring Chennai back on her feet after the devastating floods. This is my way of saying ‘Thank You’ to the volunteers.”
Actors Siddharth, Mumtaj, Bobby Simha, Vijay Sethupathi, Nithya Menen and Karthi have already completed shooting for the song. Vishal, Dhanush, Vikranth and Kushboo are expected to join the shooting shortly. From outside Kollywood, Nivin Pauly, Sudeep, Rana Daggubati, Prabhas and Ram Charan Teja are likely to feature in the song. Vikram is also expecting Vijay and Ajith’s presence in the song.
