Actresses Sonakshi Sinha and Amala Paul are the frontrunners to star in the Tamil remake of the Malayalam comedy Bhaskar The Rascal (2015). If cast, they will play a single parent, originally played by Nayanthara. Director Siddique will direct the remake. Arvind Swamy plays the other lead, originally played by Mammootty.

According to reports, the makers are leaning towards Sonakshi Sinha, and are in talks with her for the role. If this does not go through, Amala Paul will be their next choice.
Sonakshi made her Tamil debut with Rajinikanth’s Lingaa. Since then, the actress has been linked with several projects, none of which have materialised thus far.
Producer Murugan, who financed films like Jannal Oram, Shenbagakottai, will be bankrolling this project.
The team is currently casting major roles. Baby Anikha, who had played Nayanthara’s daughter in the original, is likely to return for the Tamil instalment, according to reports.
