Soundarya Rajinikanth was granted divorce by the Madras High Court on Tuesday, July 4. The principal family court judge Maria Clatta formalised the separation.

Earlier, Ashwin and Soundarya had resolved to end their seven-year-long relationship, following which divorce proceedings began. The two have a four-year-old son, and have reportedly agreed on a mutually satisfactory custody arrangement.
A representative of Soundarya said:
“The process was initiated over seven months ago. There was absolutely no problems during the course of the divorce proceedings, and both parties are now happy with the smooth end to their relationship.”
Soundarya married Ashwin in a lavish marriage ceremony in 2010. The duo dated for years, before formalising their relationship with a Hindu wedding in Chennai. News of their separation was announced earlier this year.
