Actor Silambarasan has decided to give up his ‘Young Superstar’ title. Speculations were rife among fans and social media users for the past few days about the actor’s decision on the matter and Simbu has finally put an end to it. A press release from the actor clarified that he had taken this measure to re-invent himself. “I don’t want any excess baggage in my journey. I’ve become more and more conscious of the way these titles are perceived by the audience and understand how they’ve shaped my image. But I’m going down a new path now and do not want anything from the past to block me!” STR also asked his fans to support him in this process and to endorse his decision.
The actor who was originally called ‘Little superstar’ chose the ‘Young Superstar’ title in 2009. More recently Simbu has been going by the initials STR instead.

Interestingly Silambarasan happens to be a self-professed fan of actor Ajith and has been quite open about his admiration for the star in on his social media page. Actor Ajith too had decided to do away with his ‘Ultimate Star’ title way back in 2010. He had also requested Sivaji Productions, the makers of Aasal not to credit him as the ‘Ultimate Star.’ He went on to say it was an unnecessary practice in an industry that was changing rapidly.
Silambarasan is currently awaiting the trailer release of Vaalu, which has faced several delays during it’s making process. He is also working on Idhu Namma Aalu with Nayanthara, his former girlfriend. Vaalu‘s trailer will be screened in theatres with Dhanush’s new release Velaiyilla Pattathari.
