Subodh Chopra, who wrote dialogues for Hindi films like Murder and Rog, died in Mumbai on May 14 due to post-Covid complications. His brother, Shanky, confirmed the news to ETimes and said that while Chopra had recovered from Covid-19, his health had rapidly deteriorated post-recovery.
He was 49.
Talking to ETimes, his brother said, “He had tested negative last week, but his condition took a turn for the worse on Monday [May 10]. His oxygen levels suddenly dropped and I made arrangements for a cylinder at home. He was feeling very exhausted and his blood pressure had risen as well. This morning, his condition deteriorated further, and I admitted him to the Lifeline Hospital in Malad. However, he passed away after a cardiac arrest. These were all complications that came after he got Covid-free.”
The writer, along with his brother and sister-in-law had tested positive for Covid-19, 10 days after his father died on April 10 due to the complications related to the virus.
Chopra began his career in 1997 as a dialogue writer for the TV show Reporter, starring Shekhar Suman, Mona Ambegaonkar, and the late Raj Kiran. He went on to write the script for a docu-drama series Haqeeqat hosted by Mahesh Bhatt.
