The New Indian Express reports that the web series has been titled Nila Nila Odi Vaa, and will also star Ashwin Kakumanu of Mankatha fame. The series will stream on Viu from next Tuesday and will have 13 episodes, and is said to conclude in a cliffhanger, allowing for the option of more seasons.

Ashwin has been quoted as saying that the director has conceptualised a group of vampires living in Chennai that wants to take over the city, as also another that wants to hunt down these vampires. Ashwin is to play Om, a tattoo artist, who sees his college crush after 10 years and finds that she is a vampire. The story will be narrated from his character’s view-point as Om is also new to the vampire sub-culture.

The series, said to be ambitious when it comes to content, will also star Sun TV VJs Aswath and Bavithra.

A year ago, director Balaji Mohan of Maari fame directed a web series titled As I’m Suffering From Kadhal, about three young couples, a divorced man and his eight-year old daughter. Meanwhile, Tamil audiences can look forward to two other series – one directed by Nalan Kumarasamy titled  Kalyanamum Kadanthu Pogum, which is a comic take on weddings, and another produced by director Karthik Subbaraj, titled Kallachirippu, about an arranged marriage gone horribly wrong.
