Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe has been nominated for this year’s Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Awards, along with Andhadhun, Gully Boy, Bulbul Can Sing and other films.
The festival, with screenings, award night and panel discussions, will be held between August 8 to 17 across different locations in Melbourne. This is the biggest Indian film festival hosted outside India.
The jury for the year include writer-director Fred Schepisi, Academy Award-winning editor Jill Bilcock, critic Rajeev Masand, actors Victoria Hill and Vince Colosimo.
Rajeev Masand will also mediate a discussion with Super Deluxe director Thiagarajan Kumararaja, and Vijay Sethupathi and S Gayathrie, who played Shilpa and Jyoti in the film, at 9 pm on August 10. He will then host discussions with the Andhadhun team, with Gully Boy director Zoya Akhtar and Bulbul Can Sing director Rima Das on women in cinema, and Karan Johar on 20 years of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
The other guests invited for the awards include Shah Rukh Khan, producer Guneet Monga, Tabu, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Karan Johar, and Priya Ramasubban.
In addition to screening films from around the country, a short film and Bollywood dance competitions are also part of the festival.

Best Indie Film: Widow of Silence, Bulbul Can Sing, The Gold-Laden Sheep and the Sacred Mountain, Namdev Bhau, Bhonsle, Chuskit, Bhoga Khirkee.
Best Film: Andhadhun, Gully Boy, Badhaai Ho, Sui Dhaaga, Super Deluxe.
Best Actor: Ayushman Khuranna for Andhadhun, Ranveer Singh for Gully Boy, Vijay Sethupathi for Super Deluxe, Manoj Bajpai for Bhonsle, Amitabh Bachchan for Badla, Vicky Kaushal for Uri The Surgical Strike, Namdev Gaurav for Namdev Bhau.
