The producer alleged that the office bearers have not received the planning permit from the Corporation yet.

Also miffed with the way Vishal is conducting his TFPC campaign, Kamatchi said:

“Vishal is using the Nadigar Sangam building ceremony as a way to gain publicity. He thinks that once the people see the progress he [has] made on such an ambitious project, they will automatically support his candidature as President of the Producers’ Council.”

He also argued that Rajini and Kamal’s presence at the event would only strengthen Vishal’s standing in the film community.

“Vishal is not a good administrator. During the Nadigar Sangam elections, he kept saying that he’d travel all over TN to find a solution for the plight of theatre artists, but he did nothing. So, it goes without saying that all that he’s promising to do now will also not turn out to be true. Vishal has a narrow minded view of the world, and I think that makes him the worst person to take on a role of this calibre.”

Suresh Kamatchi is the latest to voice his disapproval of Vishal’s sudden campaign to be TFPC President. Director Cheran and producer Kalaipuli S Thanu (the current President of TFPC) had criticised the actor repeatedly in the run-up to the elections.

As the campaigns turn acrimonious, a former judge has been appointed to ensure the smooth running of the election. It will take place on April 2
