Actor Suriya’s 2D Entertainment has invested in HeroTalkies.com, an entertainment start-up which offers legal online streaming of Tamil movies in the overseas, to become one of the four lead investors in the venture. Other investors include Sanjay Arjundas Wadhwa ( movie distributor in South India), Balaji Panchapakesan (UK), Shankar Venkatesan (Poland) and Vasikaran Venkatesan (USA).

“2D Entertainment sees this as a strategic investment into the online movie streaming business. As a forward-looking organization we are keen on exploring several partnerships that expand our existing portfolio in the entertainment industry. With movies moving towards digitization it was a logical step to bring into our fold an online streaming platform”, said 2D Entertainment’s CEO Rajasekar Pandian.
The funds raised will be used for content acquisition and increasing the firm’s customer base. HeroTalkies has 30,000 users who have signed up and 7,500 subscribers in 55 countries including the U.S., U.K. and Canada.
