T Rajendar Spent Over 25 Crore To Distribute Vaalu

Speaking to the press, ahead of the August 14 release of his son STR’s film Vaalu, T Rajendar said he had spent over Rs.25 crores in settling the legal issues obstructing the film’s release. T Rajendar also thanked actor Vijay for his moral support at a time when it was most needed. Elaborating on the close relationship between his family and Vijay’s family, Rajendar said the families at become close during their stay in Malaysia for a reality show, where T Rajendar and Vijay’s mother Shoba Chandrasekhar had been judges.

Vijay’s PRO and the producer of Puli, PT Selvakumar along with Cosmo Sivakumar from Coimbatore had helped T Rajendar distribute the film in over 300 theatres across Tamil Nadu.

Also, when questioned about Udhayanidhi Stalin’s alleged interference, T Rajendar clarified that his production house hasn’t released a film in the past three years, and that had been the problem. He said, “It was an act of fans and I have no say in that. It is also understood that the theatre owners allot screens for distributors who frequently release films. Also, there was a glitch at our end when we announced the release date. If we had announced the date even two weeks in advance, we would have had more screens for Vaalu.” After his experience with distribution-related struggles, T Rajendar has volunteered to help distribute Vijay’s Puli as well films of any other stars who need help.

Earlier, the Madras High Court had issued a stay on Vaalu’s release after a petition was filed by Magic Rays, a distribution firm. Vaalu’s production house NIC Arts and Magic Rays eventually resolved their issues, and approximately 14 cases were subsequently dismissed by the High Court.
