Nupur and Rajesh Talwar have been acquitted by the Allahabad High Court in the 2008 Noida double murder case. The Talwars were accused of killing their teenage daughter, Aarushi, and their domestic help, Hemraj.
BG Chitnis, father of Nupur Talwar, said that it was very “trying” for him to see his daughter in prison. He expressed his relief at her acquittal.
“I am grateful to the judiciary for the verdict. They (the Talwar couple) have really suffered. They are emotionally drained. At my age, it was very trying to see my daughter behind bars,” he told reporters here.
Vandana Talwar, Aarushi’s aunt, said the entire family had suffered for nearly a decade as the case dragged on.
“It was very exhausting and trying …,” she said.
Meghna Gulzar, director of the film Talvar, based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Avirook Sen, tweeted her relief at the acquittal. As did the film’s producer Vishal Bharadwaj.

Justice delayed is NOT justice denied. Overwhelmed and deeply relieved upon hearing the news of the acquittal. #AarushiVerdict #Talwars

Nothing worse than parents accused of their own daughters murder. And then horrible sordid made up stories lapped up by media #ArushiVerdict

My take: The inherent class bias in the reporting of the Arushi-Hemraj double murder & how justice was denied to both by bad investigation?? pic.twitter.com/dsN2wdWy3R
